Description

THERE!  He's finally here...it took me bloody long enough to do it, but here's Leo's idiot brother for you guys!

Name:  William "Will" Finch
Race: Lycanthrope
Age: 24
Occupation: Bartender, former Ensign in the British Army

Nationality:  British (Scottish/German parents)
Alliance: Pack, though sympathizes with humans
Height: 6'0
Weight: 210 lbs
Eye Color:  Gold
Hair Color:  Red
Blood Type: O-
Gift:   Insommia:  He's able to function on no sleep for at least 3 days with no ill effects.  After that time span, he progressively begins to feel the affects of sleep deprevation until he actually does get a good 10 to 12 hours sleep.  Of course when he falls asleep good luck getting him to wake up.  He sleeps like a dead bear.  And snores.

Weapon:  None that he carries.  Will's always preferred fist-fights, and has spent plenty of time boxing both before and during his time in the army.  He specializes in grappling, and has the muscle and balance to pull it off.  It works great for throwing people out of bars.

Of course, he had some basic training with sidearms in the army, but he never uses it.  After all guns are an expensive and rather permanent way of dealing with people.  As for swords, well, he was never a good with anything larger than a hunting knife and it's a minor miracle he doesn't decapitate himself shaving.

In wolf form, he also tries to use his bulk to his advantage, along with his teeth and claws.   He has not practiced much with this form though.

Personality:

[Hard Working] - No matter what the job is for Will, he'll always attempt to get it done to the best of his ability.  Even if he's half asleep and incredibly hungover: which is more often then one would think.

[Patient] - Being one of the middle siblings meant that he would always have to wait for everything.  He is not very hot headed, and would prefer to observe a situation before taking action.  After all, all good things come to those who wait, right?  It probably does help that he can take a punch.

[Protective] - When it comes to  family and friends, Will cares about their safety and security.  He'll always make sure the people around him are safe, especially now that he has some rather 'fluffy' issues.  Of course, this also can extend to people who pay him or give him food.  Especially people who give him food.

[Passive] -  Just following orders is something he prefers to do.  He's not stubborn, does not hold any sort of grudge against people that have wronged him, or even really gets angry for that matter.  He'll just shrug and continue about his day like nothing happened.  Of course, the exceptions to this are if people continuously go out of their way to frustrate him, or attempt to murder him.  That'll leave an impression.

[Oblivious] - He's not the best at reading the mood of a situation, or noticing if someone is mad at him or flirting with.  He'll sit there with a confused expression until he's explicitly told what's going on.  He's also pretty bad at telling when someone's lying to him (unless its obvious), and isn't a very good liar either.

[Unambitious] - Besides not dying, Will does not have any grand and glorious plans for his life.  He's perfectly content just to have a job to pay for his reading habit, and a place to sleep.  Anything above and beyond that is simply just a bonus.

History:

As the third born son, not much was expected of Will.  His eldest brother John was already being groomed to take over their father's machine shop, and his second eldest brother was an apprentice at an apothecary.  For all intents and purposes, it looked like Will would probably join his older brother in helping repair things in the shop, at least until his sister was born.

Of course, Will was bit too young to fully understand what happened when his mother died, and really did not pay much attention to what his brothers thought of the whole thing.  All he really cared about was the fact they now had a little sister and the fact their father was not having an easy time with the loss.  With money getting tight, Will was pushed to find some sort of job to help bring in some income.  Not the easiest thing for a kid to do but he did it anyway.

So Will found a simple job helping stock shelves at a nearby bookstore.  Of course, as part of the job, the store owner did teach Will how to read - after all what sort of help would he be if he couldn't read?  This did have the side effect of Will now reading on the job, and well, anywhere else for that matter.  It drove his brothers crazy, but he didn't care.

As he got older, Will also began helping out at a local pub in addition to his job at the bookshop.  He didn't mind the odd hours working, and the long nights and days never bothered him either.  In all honesty, he just found he managed fine with out a lot of it.  His job at the bar wasn't too elaborate, mostly just helping serve drinks and cleaning up after bar patrons.  To Will, it was a pretty decent job.

It was around this point his brother John brother began teaching him how hold his own in a fight. As it turned out, Will ended up getting plenty of practice with fights in the pub - though most of what he was doing was helping break them up.  Eventually, his little sister even joined in on these lessons - despite both his and John's protests.  This was also when they started giving up on the possibility of their sister being 'normal'.

Come his 15th birthday, Will had already shot up in height, and gained quite a bit of muscle from his job at the pub.  Naturally, a few of his friends told him he should join up with the army, saying he would do well!  Will simply laughed off their suggestions for a few months, though he did eventually think about it.  So, after discussing a few things with his family, Will enlisted in the British Army - lying about his age to the recruiter of course - and left for the army base in Devonport.

A few months later he got himself transferred into the navy, and found himself moving around quite a bit for the next 6 years as his unit kept getting transferred.  Will was not terribly driven to rise through the ranks, and just barely managed to get commissioned as an Ensign.  He probably would have stayed in that rank for the rest of his life, until his unit was sent to the garrison in Halifax, Nova Scotia to help work with the local militia in 1869.

After a bad night out drinking one full moon, Will woke up with one hell of a hang over, no memories of the night before, and a rather nasty dog bite on his shoulder.  When he asked a few of his buddies what had happened, they just said he ran into a really bad tempered dog.  The injury didn't bother him too much, so he simply had it cleaned up by a medic before resuming his duties.  Despite the fact his shoulder was sore beyond all rational belief for the next several weeks, Will did not seek any additional help for it.  Of course, as soon as the next full moon came everything went wrong.

Much like the previous full moon, Will didn't have any memories of what went on.  But he did wake up covered in gore and tattered clothing, with one of his superior's bodies nearby in a rather eviscerated state.  He quickly hurried back to the military base, only to hear that some sort of wolf-beast had wreaked havoc the night before and that one of the officers was missing.  For the time being, Will just thought it was an odd coincidence that he had ended up outside and covered in blood near the dead officer.  Until it happened again the next month he nearly killed one of the other officers - only this time he remembered.

Needless to say it didn't take him terribly long to put two and two together after that.  Realizing he could possibly face a court martial if the others figured things out, Will quickly resigned from his position, packed up his things and got himself on the next boat back to the British Isles.  Originally, he planned to go straight back home to Scotland, until he heard a rumor in a bar about wolves in London.  Curious (And arguably, not willing to explain this 'wolf' issue to his brothers), he headed there and soon discovered the pack.  He was only too happy to join up since it meant he would have a place to sleep and a somewhat steady food supply.

Surprisingly, he quickly found himself employed as a bartender at the Euphoria Emporium.  Namely because the owner wanted at least one of the bartenders to be able to handle any manner of rowdy guests - human or otherwise.  Not to mention Will had managed to build up a very large tab there one night by complete accident: he has to pay it off somehow.

Likes:

- Penny dreadfuls, poetry and classic literature
- Alcohol in general, especially questionable mixtures of it
- Occasional cigarettes
- Boxing
- Sleep when he gets it
- Trying to appear presentable

Dislikes:

- Being treated like a complete idiot
- Being clung to by anyone
- Rowdy drunks
- Not talking for long periods of time

Miscellaneous:

-
Is a mostly-functioning alcoholic.
- Does not have any actual combat experience.  Surprisingly this was a pretty relaxed period in British Military History.
- Is somewhat aware his sister is also in London, and does ask around if people have seen her from time to time.  He's not so aware that she's still passing herself off as a man.  He presently is torn on if he wants to find her or not due to being a werewolf (not to mention the impressions he's gotten from her friends).
Does have clothes other than his bartending uniform.  He tends to dress as well as his limited budget allows him to.
-  Got his cross tattoo on his forearm after losing a bet with one of his army friends.  As he put it 'it was one of the more painful experiences of my life'.
-  Considering  he's a big guy, and a werewolf, it takes a LOT to get him drunk.  He'll happily drink people under the table when he's not working.
-  Happily follows the 'pretend I saw nothing and drink to forget' policy when dealing with anything incredibly weird, and the 'drink until you feel like you did the right thing' policy when dealing with tough decisions.
- Tries to write his two brothers at least once a month.
- Really does not have much experience being a werewolf, or with the supernatural in general.
- Tends to work whatever bartending shifts he's told to work.  He refuses to also pick any other 'work' that his boss tries to shove on him.
