Ok, I figure I should submit this, and get it out of my hair. Now, I am a mod for #ChrysaliceC, and well, a new NPC was needed. So I pulled out a not-so-new OC to fill the job~

Name: Mattaeus Whieling

Personality: Since he usually appears as cold, blunt, and incredibly strict, it's easy to presume Mattaeus isn't the most friendly individual. While that is true to an extent, it's also what keeps him from losing his head when a plan isn't going his way.
He is known to have a softer, moral side for his wife and for women and children, but usually that's hidden under his usual gruff exterior.
Despite this, he is known to have little patience for incompetence, idiots, and (Occasionally) the pettiness of nobility. It not only frustrates him, but also tends to prompt him to start yelling at them to shut their mouths and listen. Usually this works quite well (And he never has to resort to physical violence), though the stress does get to him.

Background: Born in a wealthy military family, Mattaeus's early life was heavily influenced by his father and grandfather, both of whom were officers in the army. He spend a lot of his time in his grandfather's company, always listening to the stories from when he was in the army.

Once he was old enough, Mattaeus was enrolled at the top military academy in Marseine. All the years he was there, he was at the top of his class and an obvious standout. Needless to say, he joined the Royal Army once he finished school at 18.

However, despite his main focus on school, he still managed to find time to participate in some forms of society and was quickly married once he finished school to a very lovely girl named Lucrezia.

He quickly rose through the officers ranks and became a Captain at the age of 26 because of his knowledge of tactics (and from a little nudging from his father and grandfather), and eventually found himself in the previous commander's direct command.

Purpose: Mattaeus has always believed that the army that his grandfather told him about, and he wants to make sure that army can exist again. Considering his both his father and grandfather's influence helped him get up to his current position, he's going to do what he can to not only stay in power, but to do a good job of it as well.

Expertise:
Military Tactics - Growing up in a military family allowed for him to learn not only the history of several battles, but why they were won, lost or how they could have been won. He's quite good at working with whatever soldiers he has at his disposal, and usually tries to keep losses to a minimum in a battle. However, he is still trying to adjust to commanding large numbers of men instead of individual soldiers.

Additional Expertise:
Swordfighting - Considering his weapon of choice is a pair of matched swords, it wouldn't do him much good to have no skill with them.

Piloting airships - He's unusually had some practice with them, and can easily take command of one if needed.

Hand-to-hand combat - Being a large man certainly has it's advantages, but Mattaeus prefers that his brute strength is more focused.

Items:
Revolver - Always good to have a gun in case a situation calls for it.
Ammo/General Pouch - Guns always need ammo. It's also handy for storing small notepads, and headache medication.

Not Shown:
Brass knuckles - Well, he needed something to punch idiots with.
Wedding Ring - Mattaeus is very loyal to his wife, and never takes it off. It's usually under his gloves though.
